Hola, mi nombre es Jhoan Finol, guionista y director, vivo en Maracaibo, estado Zulia, Venezuela.
Hello, my name is Jhoan Finol, scriptwriter and director, I live in Maracaibo, Zulia state, Venezuela.
Decido junto a mi equipo arrancar esta campaña de crowfounding para iniciar el rodaje de mi ópera prima cinematográfica, “Con María en casa”.
Together with my team, I decide to start this crowfounding campaign to start filming my first feature film, “With Maria at home”.
CONOCE LA HISTORIA
KNOW THE STORY
La vida de María no es la típica historia de una niña de 10 años de edad, ya no juega con muñecas y conoce la ausencia. Quedó huérfana de una madre amorosa, María Angélica, quien sufrió una enfermad terminal y antes de morir decide que su única hija debe volver a vivir con su padre, el artista plástico Marcel Uzcátegui. Para María su figura paterna es difusa, como un cuadro impresionista. Sus padres se divorciaron cuando ella tenía 3 años. Al llegar a la que fue su casa familiar se encuentra con un paisaje desolador: todo allí huele a alcohol, las botellas acabadas demuestran el vacío en el que se encuentra su padre alcohólico.
Maria's life is not the typical story of a 10-year-old girl, she no longer plays with dolls and she knows her absence. She was orphaned by a loving mother, María Angélica, who suffered a terminal illness and before she died, she decides that her only daughter must return to live with her father, the plastic artist Marcel Uzcátegui. For Maria, her father figure is diffuse, like an impressionist painting. Her parents divorced when she was 3 years old. When she arrives at what she used to be, her family home, she finds a desolate landscape: everything there she smells of alcohol, the finished bottles show the emptiness in which her alcoholic father finds herself.
María y Marcel sostienen una convivencia forzada, es una soledad acompañada que va cediendo poco a poco, la cotidianidad va ejerciendo su efecto, llegan a reconocerse y juntos logran mirarse desde el amor y desde allí pintar con colores vivos y armónicos su vida luego de enfrentar un juicio descarnado por su custodia con Armando, el severo abuelo materno.
María and Marcel have a forced coexistence, it is an accompanied loneliness that gradually gives way, everyday life is having its effect, they come to recognize each other and together they manage to look at each other from love and from there paint their life with vivid and harmonic colors after facing a stark trial for his custody with Armando, the severe maternal grandfather.
Es un film sobre el amor filial y su capacidad de transformación. Cuando Marcel, el protagonista de nuestra historia pierde el camino, María, su hija, se convierte en el faro de redención que necesita.
It is a film about filial love and its capacity for transformation. When Marcel, the protagonist of our story loses his way, María, his daughter, becomes the beacon of redemption he needs.

WHY I WRITTEN IT
En sus fases tempranas, el alcoholismo está socialmente aceptado, este permiso lleva al enfermo a no tener límites al comienzo de la patología, el cuerpo tolera cada vez más etanol y comienza la adicción.
In its early stages, alcoholism is socially accepted, this permission leads the patient to have no limits at the beginning of the pathology, the body tolerates more and more ethanol and addiction begins.
Con este proyecto quiero explorar la faceta psicológica y social del alcohólico y como logra su reinserción en la sociedad desde la contención del amor.
With this project I want to explore the psychological and social facet of the alcoholic and how he achieves his reinsertion into society from the containment of love.
Otra de los temas transversales de la historia es la paternidad responsable y respetuosa que se traduce en convivencia, tolerancia, comprensión, rol que aprenderá a ejercer Marcel al vivir nuevamente con su hija, situación catalizadora para sobrellevar su enfermedad.
Another of the cross-cutting themes of the story is responsible and respectful parenthood that translates into coexistence, tolerance, understanding, a role that Marcel will learn to play when living again with his daughter, a catalytic situation to cope with his illness.
A lo largo de la película se irá respondiendo esta premisa: ¿Puede un hombre alcohólico hacerse cargo de la custodia de su hija de 10 años?
Throughout the film this premise will be answered: Can an alcoholic man take over custody of his 10-year-old daughter?
WHY I WRITTEN IT

En la producción ejecutiva la casa productora Blush Films de la mano del venezolano Thomas Piedra. A lo largo de su trayectoria ha trabajado como actor (en más de 17 películas desde la década de los noventa) y como productor con su ópera prima el largometraje “Los 8-6” estrenándose en el 2016 a nivel mundial en el New York Film Festival logrando premios en diversos festivales de los Estados Unidos como su comercialización en televisión y plataformas digitales. En el 2018 estrena la comedia “El tercer deseo” que se ha posicionado en el mercado internacional en su género.

Ha conformado el equipo de producción de 6 largometrajes, 3 documentales, 3 seriados para televisión y más de 80 comerciales. En la asistencia de dirección suma 4 largometrajes de ficción. En 2016 recibe el Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar, mención televisión.
As a producer Gabriela Serrano, Venezuelan- Spanish with 20 years of experience in film, television and advertising. She has formed the production team of 6 feature films, 3 documentaries, 3 television series and more than 80 commercials. In directing assistance, she adds 4 fiction feature films. In 2016, she received the Simón Bolívar National Journalism Award, a television mention.
Y por último, les cuento brevemente sobre mi historia: estudié dramaturgia y escritura. En 2006 edité mi primera novela corta “Amor y Venganza” y en el 2012 “Más que un sentimiento”. Hace 10 años nace la inquietud por la cinematografía formándome como director y guionista realizando en este periodo tres cortometrajes de ficción “Cordura”, “Fortuito” y “Una noche para morir” con mi casa productora AOR Films.
And finally, I tell you briefly about my story: I studied dramaturgy and writing. In 2006 I edited my first short novel "Amor y Venganza" and in 2012 "Más que un sentimento". Ten years ago, the concern for cinematography was born, training me as a director and screenwriter, making in this period three fiction short films "Sanity", "Fortuito" and "A night to die" with my production company AOR Films.

Llevamos varios años trabajando esta historia, haciendo entrevistas e investigaciones para escribir el guión que ya está terminado. Actualmente estamos en la etapa de preproducción para lograr iniciar el rodaje. Para esta fase es que necesitamos de tu aporte y completar el cash flow para cubrir algunos gastos de producción.
We have been working on this story for several years, doing interviews and research to write the script that is already finished. We are currently in the pre-production stage to start filming. For this phase, we need your contribution and complete the cash flow to cover some production expenses.
Emprender un proyecto cinematográfico es complejo, el cine es arte e industria, y hacerlo en Venezuela amerita un esfuerzo mayor por las condiciones económicas que ustedes seguramente conocen. Muchos me han preguntado: ¿Por qué sigues allí? ¿Por qué no la haces en otro país? La historia que cuentas es universal, puede ocurrir en cualquier parte del mundo. Y sí, es cierto, pudiese probar suerte en otro lugar pero mis raíces están aquí y desde ese cimiento quiero levantar este proyecto, como escribió el poeta Antonio Machado: “si quieres trascender en el universo piensa primero en tu pueblo”.
Undertaking a cinematographic project is complex, cinema is art and industry, and doing it in Venezuela requires a greater effort due to the economic conditions that you surely know. Many have asked me: Why are you still there? Why don't you do it in another country? The story you tell is universal, it can happen anywhere in the world. And yes, it's true, I could try my luck in another place but my roots are here and from that foundation I want to build this project, as the poet Antonio Machado wrote: “if you want to transcend the universe, think first of your people”.
A parte de los escenarios propios y habituales para la proyección de largometrajes (salas de cine, festivales, televisión) nosotros queremos presentar “Con María en casa” en espacios de rehabilitación para enfermos de alcoholismo y otras adicciones.
Apart from our own and usual scenarios for the projection of feature films (movie theaters, festivals, television) we want to present “Con María en casa” in rehabilitation spaces for patients with alcoholism and other addictions.
Nos mueve un deseo creativo, pero también el deseo de compartir una historia que consiga ilusionarnos a todos. Que nos permita viajar y soñar con realidades e historias posibles. Trazamos el inicio de la producción del proyecto en junio de 2021.
We are moved by a creative desire, but also the desire to share a story that makes us all excited. That allows us to travel and dream of possible realities and stories. We trace the start of production for the project in June 2021.
